The Last Airbender...Hopefully Also "The Last Movie This Bad About Avatar: The Last Airbender."

July 2nd, 2010 (11:13 pm)

current mood: flabbergasted
current song: Somebody Help Me - Full Blown Rose

Well...I just saw The Last Airbender. Perhaps I am a masochist for doing so, or perhaps I was feeling overly optimistic to hope there would be SOMETHING of value in a movie that has an amazing 9% fresh rating from Rotten Tomatoes...

If you don't want of the spoilers, do NOT read.

A very, VERY long expose.Collapse )

Sunday, Why Can't You Be Two Days Long?

April 25th, 2010 (06:21 pm)

current mood: calm
current song: Diary of Jane - Breaking Benjamin

Weekends go by too quickly. This is the truth.

Anyway, I just got back from 48 Hours of Madness's awards ceremony and film screening...our film didn't win anything, but the ones that beat us were admirable for the most part and pretty much everyone did a good job. There was one film that didn't at all follow the script that we were supposed to use the story of and that got an Honorable Mention (second place) award from the judges, and that's a bit annoying, but they were in the high school category, so it's not like them winning kept us from winning or anything. And really, our film was not the best by a long shot anyway. We were practically the only ones to really use the script and not make it entirely boring, though.

Thank you to Kai and Haley for their wonderful assistance with Mytho's app. Appreciate it muchies, my duckies. ♥ And Blackie dear~♥, I'll get right on that betaing now, rly. ^^;

Ooookay, and now two memes! First, from Haley.

ONE: Open up your music player and post lines from the first 20 songs that come up.
TWO: Make your flist guess the songs for fun and mostly just fun
THREE: ???

I have a feeling these will be easy for y'all.Collapse )

Aaaand one from saft, too. ♥

current song: No One Would Listen - The Phantom of the Opera (deleted film scene)

YESSSSS, today be the unofficial start of Spring Break, everybody~! Yeah, Monday is technically when it starts, but I've got no more classes today or this weekend, so I'm declaring FREEDOOOOOM~~~.

Ahem. So yes, thank goodness for that. And for me getting another A on my most recent English paper. This teacher of mine I think is starting to figure out that I really don't belong in his English class, both of his comments on my papers thus far have been the professional quivalent of "OMFG THIS IS AWESOME". Stupid entrance exams that determine you need more reading experience when you interpret something differently than you're "supposed to." 8D

Oh, and my Video Editing class? Major lame thus far. I know everyone's on different levels and all, but we only started actually using the program in our fourth lesson (and each lesson is two hours long, whut?), and it ended up becoming a big mess because our computers' lessons weren't his computer's lessons and blarg. I can follow the goddamn book if that's what I've got to do, but we weren't even following the damn book becase we weren't prepared. LET'S GET EDITING, PLZ.

To close, a Disney Princess meme stolen from kaboot and saft .

Which princess are I most like?Collapse )
...Randomly, I totally love this song/sequence so much.

I'll admit that Gerard is probably my favorite Phantom especially for his acting, but in this I honestly think he sings so beautifully even if it's simple (to be fair, as well, though, this is what I like about his singing, unlike Michael Crawford who uses way too much frabrato and focuses too much on the 1-2-3-4 of it all for my liking). I understand why this sequence wasn't included, as it definitely would've inhibited the flow of the storyline too much, but I am glad they shot it anyway and put it on the DVD. :3

Why Is It That You're Always Either Too Small Or Too Tall?

March 20th, 2010 (09:00 pm)

current mood: contemplative
current song: About You Now - Miranda Cosgrove

I really have had Alice in Wonderland on the brain a lot lately. I'd write something, but I have no confidence at all in being able to write Hatter or Alice in character. I guess that's what Aliru is for. Maybe if I go see the movie again...though if I did it this weekend I'd have to do it after writing my 5-7 page paper arguing against torture for English class. XD;;

Speaking of Hatter and Alice, I was randomly searching around and I found this adorable thing. I demand that there must be a masquerade or role switch event on the DR at some point here, I WANT TO FORCE MY ALICE!AHIRU INTO THIS, she'd be so friggin' uncomfortable. XDDD I bet Hatkir would like it, though.

Oh, and by the way...the Princess and the Frog DVD is a FUCKING RIP-OFF. NO SPECIAL FEATURES UNLESS YOU GET THE FUCKING BLU-RAY?! WTH, DISNEY, HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THAT BLU-RAY IS SOMETHING MOST PEOPLE DON'T HAVE AND CAN'T AFFORD. (If all else, it'd make them go out and get everything they have on DVD on Blu-Ray just to use it and it's not like the shift from VHS to DVD where you're going from a clunky tape to a disk, this is going from one sort of disk to another with the same basic capabilities.) AT LEAST MAKE A DVD WITH THE SAME FRIGGIN' FEATURES, YOU-! *throws both shoes at you in utter frustration*

And now to close...a meme~! ♥

Give me one of your RP characters. I will then reply with the first thing that came into my head thinking about your character, whether it's a picture, song, music video, whatever.

Just Take a Bite: Let Me Shake Up Your World~...

March 17th, 2010 (07:49 pm)

current mood: good
current song: Good Girls Go Bad - Cobra Starship

Well, I started my Film Editing class yesterday...I think I'll like my teacher quite well. He's on the older side, but he's got an almost enclopedic index in his head of films and the sorts of special editing and film devices used in them, so he's cool. The book for the class was unusually cheap too~!! One of my old classmates from my Acting in Film and Television class is there too (he wasn't in my group but he's a good guy), so it was nice to see him again too.

Aaaaaand I got an A+ on her Mythology assignment rewriting the story of Hades, the Greek God of the Underworld. Yaaaaay~.

I've been dwelling on an original fiction idea lately involving the souls of people having died losing all memory of the lives they'd lived on earth and having to travel through a "fantasy world" (more a world away from our world in a life after life, but it does have fantastical elements in it) to reclaim the memories of who they were before deciding whether to stay in that universe in a stage of emotionless nirvana or going back to earth to live another life. The main character would be a white-haired, red-eyed girl named Glass (yes, odd color hair and eyes are common in this world), named for the only memory left to her in the erasing process: the memory of a colorful glass. (In this world everyone would be named for an object that one of their previous lives once owned, that being the sole memory left behind as to encourage them to go find the rest of their memories.) I'm liking the idea, but I'm considering that it's alreadybecoming very complicated to explain and it probably would be...rather politically and socially awkward of a storyline. XDD;;; Plus I'm horrible with following through with finishing stories, let alone those of my own creation...mostly since I'm always afraid that something I write will be too much like something else out there. ^^;

To close, I shall steal this meme from Sammie-love. :3

Name one of my muses and one of yours and I will tell you five things my character will NEVER tell yours ICly. Ever.

You don't have to be limited to one, of course. ♥

Curiouser and Curiouser...

March 14th, 2010 (04:18 pm)

current song: They Don't Care About Us - Michael Jackson

Welp, I saw Alice in Wonderland today with my mama and dad~! And I really, really enjoyed it...the visuals were definitely wonderful and creative, but the characters were as well, especially the Cheshire Cat, the Red Queen, the Knave, the Dormouse, Alice and of course the Hatter. Hatter was my favorite... I hadn't been sure if I'd like him at first or if he'd be too much like Depp's Willy Wonka (which...kind of makes me uncomfortable, to be honest), but I LOVED him and Alice...especially because of their fun dynamic. XDD Plus they were able to put so many references from the book into the film, which was really fun. X3

So yeah, that's helping my new Alice!Ahiru muse at the DR. Sammie makes a perfectly marvelous Hatter!Fakir too, so that's doubly helpful...or contrarywise, helpfully double, which doesn't make as much sense. But hey, sense was never a great friend of mine. 8D

You know what irks me? When you post a survey to a stamping community and people just reply with their votes with no explanation whatsoever. I mean, really, is it so much to ask for, a reason behind your opinion about something? This happened on the new Anastasia stamping comm I joined, and I even very politely ASKED people to give reasoning for their votes, and the majority of them STILL didn't give them. It rather looks like piggyback voting just to show that you've voted so people will vote on yours, with there being no thought behind such votes. >>

Oh, What Are You Doin' to Me? I'm So Into You...

March 9th, 2010 (08:35 am)

current mood: relaxed
current song: Trip - Hedley

Welp...Tory's on her new computer! A very lovely little HP computer, which is interesting for me as I've grown used to having a busted up Compaq, now with all of my video and music files uploaded. It was a hassle to bring over all my music from my old ITunes to my new one as, apparently, you can't take your music from your IPhone and upload it into ITunes (which is REALLY stupid), so I had to rehook up my old computer, copy all of my music, and then bring it over to my old computer...only for me to notice the songs wouldn't play when I tried it later as it made me copy the contents of the drive rather than bring copies of the music over to my music folder. So I had to bring my music over twice. And my DVD Ripper program was being difficult as it refused to let me bring the program onto my new computer while it was still registered on my old one. The problem? The reason why my computer is busted is IT WON'T OPEN UP ANY FILES ENDING IN EXE. In other words, everything. So I was unable to uninstall it. Fortunately we were able to write to the people who made the program, explain our problem, and they sorted it all out and now I have my DVD ripper program back online. As well this new computer I have was SO MARVELOUSLY easy in recognizing my mother's and my network through its Wi-Fi (which is necessary for Internet, yes?). No wires, wheeeee~! Plus it seems to have a primitive video editing software already included in the computer for making home videos...not nearly as good at editing as WMM, but it has interesting effects like intros to your videos that take you through a gallery, a photo album, a news intro, etc. before starting the video, as well as good stuff for editing colors and brightness. Maybe I could use it in combination with WMM for one of my videos at some point.

Anyone seen Snow White: A Tale of Terror? It's a pretty good movie, it's got Sigourney Weaver as the Queen and she's awesome. But anyway, so I'm doing a Mythology group project on that film, regarding the mythological, folklore, etc. influences shown in the film. Obviously Snow White the fairy tale is the obvious one, but I plan to compare the Queen to Elizabeth Bathory in my side of the project. If you guys don't know who she is, look her up: she is the creepiest woman. o.o

Speaking of films, my film class starts next week. That'll be interesting. I don't know the teacher, so I don't know what to expect, but I'm hoping since it's a fast-paced course we'll learn a lot quickly and it'll be fun.

I'm noticing a few peeps on my F-list are on Spring Break already? Lucky you all! My Spring Break be at the end on March to the beginning of April. My mother's upset about it because she has the most work to do at the end of the months (as she has to do monthly reports then), so it sort of fucks with the idea of us taking time off together and doing stuff. It's not like we were thinking of going on a Disney cruise or going to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (though we have been MOURNING TOGETHER about how much we'd love to do either recentlyyyy DDDX), but we at least wanted to do something. Oh well. Looks like it'll have to be more of a "staycation" than a "vacation." XD;

Two Teaspoons of Wishful Thinking...

March 6th, 2010 (04:45 pm)

current mood: tired
current song: Poker Face - Lady Gaga

Welp, Tory did some yard work today...on these lawns of ours that have turned into the FRIGGIN' SAVANNA thanks to all the rain we've been getting for the last few weekends. Conquered the front lawn with the weed-eater, but alas! The battery died just in starting the backyard and after an hour of letting the battery charge for it, it's started to rain as the weather report said it would. Damn it.

Y'know...I admit I really wasn't sure what I'd think about Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. At first I was rather disturbed, as it didn't look ANYTHING like the Alice in Wonderland story...but this was before I learned that they are, in fact, having this as a sequel story to Alice that seems to me like more of a mixture between Through the Looking Glass and the American McGee's Alice video game. Now after hearing this and seeing featurettes for it, I can't wait to see it! But that is really upsetting, isn't it? Tim, I love you, but you shouldn't have called it Alice in Wonderland if it isn't the story of Alice in Wonderland: it's deceiving to your audience, and might keep people from going to see it! You could've at least called it Alice: Through the Looking Glass or something! ...But yeah, so I plan to see it next weekend with my dad and (maybe) my mom in tow.

Hahaaaaaa, so now there's a musical!Shrekir on the Tutu DR where I play Movie!Donkey!Femio, right? They interacted and it is epic. I can't wait until Kai's Shrekir gets there too, Donkio will be SO freaking confused. XDD

Speaking of RPing and Tutu, does anyone want to do a Wonderland-like situation over at either the Ruetho or Fakiru museboxes? I'm very tempted. >>

current song: Not While I'm Around - Josh Groban

Weeeeeeell, my computer is fucked up and probably as close to dead as it'll get. So now I'm on my mama's laptop until we figure out what computer to get to replace it, and having to snatch up the files of my English essay and Mythology assignment so I can hurry up and edit them when they're both due in the next three days. 'Swell.

Two memes~...this first one is from mozarteffect ~.
